Platinum ceremony

Choose the platinum package for a fully bespoke ceremony and a range of exclusive options not included in any other packages. You will work closely with a dedicated registrar to piece together your perfect ceremony, offering personal support, advice and guidance during the lead up to the ceremony and on the day itself.

In the platinum package, you can choose various enhancements such as a candle lighting ceremony or a rose ceremony. The registrar will create an original script, based on discussions with you both. A copy of the script will be presented as a special keepsake of the day. Digital photos of the day may be incorporated into the commemorative script for a small additional fee.

Couples on the platinum package can write their own vows, if they choose. You will both receive full support from your registrar and be given a booklet of poetry and verse to use or for inspiration. We welcome the involvement of family and friends through the delivery of poetry or readings and would be happy to offer advice or make suggestions.

Standard Ceremonies

Our standard ceremonies consist of our Gold, Silver and Bronze options. They are all delivered to the same high standard but differ slightly to cater for a range of tastes. We encourage the inclusion of your personal vows, or a reading or a piece of poetry read by one of your guests. Alternatively the registrar may deliver one suitable reading for you.

The gold ceremony is more traditionally worded and is the longest of the three. The bride may be given away by someone special and there are opportunities for friends or relatives to participate in the ceremony by delivering poetry or readings. There is also the opportunity to share special words at the exchange of rings.

The silver ceremony can include all the content of the gold but the wording is less elaborate.

The bronze is the simplest and shortest ceremony. It does not include the option for a reading or for special words at the exchange of rings.

Sapphire Ceremony

The Sapphire ceremony is where the majority of the ceremony takes place outdoors at your chosen approved venue. For the legal part of the ceremony, the immediate wedding party must go inside to a licensed room. Remaining guests can wait outside, listening to music or a reading before the celebrations continue.

How much does a ceremony cost?

Fees for ceremonies vary according to the type, time and location. Included in the price is help with the planning of your ceremony, the delivery and registration of your ceremony and one marriage or civil partnership certificate. For a small additional fee, we have an option for a rehearsal evening on the second Wednesday of the month between March and October. There are additional fees for the Platinum and Sapphire packages, which are taken at the time of booking, to allow for the extra time and options involved. Please speak to your registrar to discuss.

Additional marriage or civil partnership certificates may be purchased. Your first copy, if ordered within one calendar month of the ceremony will cost £4, and then £7 each for extras. Thereafter, more copies can be purchased from the Superintendent Registrar at the district register office in Beverley for £10 each.

There is a £50 deposit for all bookings, deductible from the final cost of your ceremony. You will also need to give notice of marriage or civil partnership to your own local registration office which incurs a small fee per person. For more information and associated costs with this, please see the marriage and civil partnerships Explained page.

*Please note: Fees are correct at 1 April 2018. All registration and celebratory fees are subject to increase on 1 April each year.

Where can I pay the fees for a ceremony?

Fees can be paid at any East Riding registration office. If you have any queries, you will need to visit the registration office that holds the paperwork for your ceremony (this will be local to your venue). Please note that fees may be subject to an annual increase in September or April of each year. All outstanding fees must be paid at least four weeks before your ceremony date.
